Competition Entries

As you may know, this weekend is the Forever7 demoparty. I’ve already finished my 1k Intro, which I was thinking of altering, but decided against it due in part to laziness. I’ve also been working on a screen$ for the competition. It’s about 50% complete at the moment, with the hard part done. But I only realised this morning that… hang on… I’ve got hardly any time to finish it!

I’m on a half-day today as I’m dropping Cath off at the airport this afternoon for her trip to a friends wedding in Aberdeen (if you’re reading this, hope you have a lovely day, sorry I couldn’t make it). Tomorrow night I’ll be on my way to London to stay at my Brother’s house in preparation for the flight early Friday morning – I’ll be without a computer for the weekend, starting Thursday evening. So it occurred to me that I only have tonight to finish my work. And there was me hoping for a quiet evening. Oh well.

Think that’s bad? I’ve basically got half a piece of music and an entire demo still to write.

I spent the last 3 and a bit days working what is possibly the single cleverest and most complicated effect I’ve ever done on the Speccy. The problem is, it still needs polishing up, and it really needs to be part of a larger demo, and not “Welcome to my new demo. Here’s the most brilliant effect I’ve ever done. The end. Vote for me.” So that idea is on hold for now – possibly until next year’s Forever – and I have about 36 hours (including party-coding) to cobble together a silly demo. And finish my music.

Not releasing a demo / intro at Forever at all would, of course, be a cardinal sin.

Well done G, we’re all proud that you’ve finally coded an FLP scroller. Top stuff.
As for the whole “Welcome/Effect/End/Vote4Me” idea – I like it. Short and to the point. Question is… does the effect fit into 1k? If so you’re sorted :]
