Upcoming Projects

Those of you who follow this blog like the avid fans you so obviously are *cough*, will know that I was working on my 512b Intro for Chaos Constructions. Well it got into the competition and came a rather spectacular last place. I guess my idea of “nice” doesn’t quite match other people’s. But it doesn’t matter, it’s the taking part that counts. I’m undeterred. I should have won *shakes fist*.

So I’ve started to think about my next project. There’s a few events that I’d like to put work into, but it all depends on time. As far as the demoscene goes the next important events for me are:

  • Sundown 2006 – this is the main UK demoparty taking place in October. I had some work planned but I’ve canned it. I’m actually away for a couple weeks soon, and don’t think I’ll have time to get my idea working as I’d like. I’ll be at the party anyway, so I’ll probably just get drunk and submit a hand-drawn screen$ of a 3-minute turd like I did last year.
  • Forever 8 – the 8th incarnation of the popular 8-bit party in Slovakia. Sadly it looks like I may not be able to go as the date falls neatly in the middle of March 2007, which currently appears to be stupidly busy. However I have some plans for a demo, and should get some time to make something work.
  • raww.orgy – currently the may-be-happening 3rd party run by me in the UK, for ZX sceners. Not a huge party, and I won’t be taking part in the competitions, but I’ll try to be prepared and get the music and graphics players sorted beforehand. I’ll even try to get the wonderful prizes sorted for presentation on-the-day. I’ll make an official announcement soon.

There are also a couple game competitions coming up, one of which I hope to enter. There’s the MiniGame Competition, of which I’ve missed the first two categories. Again, I don’t think I have time to do anything for the 8k game compo either. But I do plan to put some work into this year’s CSS Crap Game Competition. I have plans for a small game with the title “Advanced <game name>” – the actual game name is secret for the moment until I code the thing. I may remove the “Advanced”, so that I can then release an enhanced version later on. Rest assured it’ll be crap. In a funky skillo sort of way. While on the subject of game coding, I actually have ongoing plans for a kinda semi-puzzle/action game. The mechanics of the game are all written down in a notepad somewhere around my house. I just need to find the notes.

Finally there’s web design. I’m in the process of redesigning this blog – while I think the Pool theme looks great (link at the bottom of the page), I’d like to personalise it a little. As the theme is Open Source I’ll probably hack it about but leave the structure the same. That’s the beauty of StyleSheets. And I’ve also got a design made up for icabod.org – the site will feature things like software I’ve written (and planned projects), music lists, code, and ooh, anything else that doesn’t really fit into the “blog” idea.

So there you go. That’s what I’m working on. A fair lump of stuff. I just wonder if any of it will ever get finished?

(the comments on the entry about WoS ban are closed now, so I post here)

How about implementing RSS feed for the WoS/SFaq updates? That could be the quite nice, comfortable and standart practice for keeping up-to-date, if they would implement it (though, if the maintainers are still in the easrly 90-s and are just updating HTML pages manually, that could be quite a pain).

Hi. Yeah, I was getting pretty much 100% spam in that article so I stopped comments.

There’s already a WOS feed (not official) over on feed43. I’m not sure such a thing is required for the FAQ as it gets updated very infrequently. I monitor the site myself anyway, and if I spot changes they get a mention on raww.org.
