Freedom to Geek

If you’ve spotted my current playlist (to the right, it should be) you may have noticed some very geeky stuff. No, I’m not talking about the 70s prog rock, tho’ that is fairly geeky. I mean the AY tracker tunes. I’m trying to get into “Retro Mode” for the upcoming raww.orgy. I’m working on this by playing music from ZX demos and parties from the last few years. It’s whilst I write code at work, which may just make things even more geeky.

I’ve just spent about 20 minutes listening to some old AY tunes… before i realised I had the same track on repeat. But as it’s from an “old-skool” demo I’m used to hearing it on repeat anyway while reading scrollytexts… and it’s simply a lovely tune, perhaps one of my all time favourites, “Freedom” by LaesQ.

So I thought I’d “share the love” by providing Gasman’s 2002 remix. Enjoy.

In case you want to know (surely you do), the track is from Kraft.

Hmmm, I downloaded kraft and the tune didn’t seem to be the same. :(

Yes it is. The tune is from the second part of Kraft (a very colourful part). The tune in the demo is a little “crisper” due to being done on the AY chip rather than whatever Gasman used to do the remix (I’m guessing some kinda synth program on the Mac).
