I’m currently coming to the end of playing Anachronox, an underrated (well, perhaps under-bought) RPG game in the style of things like Final Fantasy (as far as the combat goes I think). So I’ve decided to look for a game to replace it once it’s complete (I’ve never been a keen replayer of games, tho’ I do currently have the fantastic Giants:Citizen Kabuto installed, which I first played to completion several years ago when a GF3 was the height of technical wizardry). I decided to go with Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, a deep RPG based on the White Wolf world. The game was released chock full of bugs, but a busy community has been patching the game up to the current v3.3, fixing bundles of issues along the way.
But do you think I can get the game? No. I had a problem getting Anachronox, having bought it second hand only to find one of the CD’s had holes in it – but an Amazon Marketplace came through, and I got the game for about 6 quid. But Vampire? That’s proving tricky. The only places that seem to have stock are selling it for upwards of 30 quid, which is a bit much for a game that’s 3 years old. HMV have the game listed at 18 quid, a reasonable price, but they have no stock (and are probably unlikely to get any). I considered Direct2Drive, a download service, but the game is listed as “North America Only“.
So, the hunt continues. If anyone happens to see anywhere that I can buy a first-hand copy of the game for under 25 quid (where they actually have stock), please let me know. I’m eager to suck some blood. Virtually, of course.

One annoying thing is that at 3 years old you’d expect the game to be around on a budget release (the main reason why I’m hesitant to spend 30 odd quid).
I suppose I could just email Activision and see if they have a copy sitting on their shelf, tho’ I can’t seem to get to the Activision Value website (their budget label) to see what’s on offer there.
Hmph.
If you don’t replay games, how come there are so many of them lining the walls of the computer room?!
Ooh, you cheeky thing. Some of them hold sentimental value – like the Thief trilogy and Outcast. Others… well, I’m still working on them. *cough*
Call off the hounds. I just found a copy in my local HMV for 20 quid. I did have a few “watches” on ebay, but the game tends to go for about 15 quid, so I figure I’m better off with a first-hand version.
So. Result!
