In case you’ve not seen it already Forever9, the premier European 8-bit demoparty has been announced. This is known as a “Good Thing”. The party is taking place in March 2008, slap bang between my wife’s birthday and my own (in fact about a week before my birthday, and a few days after hers). It’s tempting to ask if she’d like to come along to the party as a birthday getaway, but I think I can accurately predict an answer in the negative – she doesn’t really do geekery.
But the party is announced and the UK contingent are already working on travel plans. Ideally we’ll be travelling to Vienna and getting a train to Trencin, as Gasman speaks German so it saves tricky situations where we have to ask for the location of a train station LOUD and S-L-O-W-L-Y! If that fails we’ll probably fly in to Bratislava and do the amusing foreigner thing of not knowing how to get out of the airport to somewhere useful.
So… who else is thinking of heading to the party?

We’re *not* doing the Bratislava thing again. Me and Bratislava just don’t get along.
And you are correct that I would rather have a birthday getaway to some shops with our joint account card…
Especially now I’m not to-be any more!
I’m going to be there. As always.
